A CD Recommendation from Liz

Performer name:  Hary Chapin

CD Title:  Greatest Stories Live

Genre(s):  Ballads (not sure really how to classify it)

Your own words on why you're recommending this CD:  I had started listening to this when it came out on 8-track and have continued listening to the music to this day.  All of his songs are based on real life stories or events that have happened in either his life or someone he knows.  A couple of examples are: 'She Wants to Learn a Love Song' is how he met his wife Sandi, 'Cat's in the Cradle' was based on a poem that Sandi wrote when Harry mentioned that he was scared about not being around for his son as his son grew up and 'Taxi' was based on when he was actually a cabbie.  My siblings and I always talk about how we would sing the words to the songs in the car when we were on trips with my parents.  Some of our favourite things were saying the "Harry, it sucks" from '30,000 Pounds of Bananas' or just singing that song out loud.  To me, it's what I call one of my favourite 'comfort cds', one that I will continuously go back and listen to no matter what (I grew up listening to Harry as well as Neil Diamond and Barbra Streisand and they're ones we continue to listen to even now).
