I have received several emails
requesting links be added to this page or ones similar to
it. While I understand the people writing those emails mean
well, I ask that you please not send me those emails. It
will be a waste of your time and they are, frankly, upsetting to
receive.
These pages are meant to honor the memory of an actor, Charles
Rocket, who positively impacted many of us but, sadly, took his
own life. I don't want to give a false impression of
possible motivations by listing off links, without context, about
assorted types of loss and distress.
Further, these pages were thoughtfully put together years ago
with the purpose of honoring the work and legacy of an
individual. I don't want to detract from that. There
are many, many places online where people can go for help with
their mental health. Repurposing a memorial page to that end
is inappropriate. What few links are included were chosen by
us years ago when the page was created and they were relevant to
the situation (i.e. centered around suicide prevention). I
don't have the time or inclination to vet additional resources
when they're beyond the scope of the page.
These pages are archived. As you can imagine,
putting together a memorial page is not super-fun. It's sad
and emotional and healing in its own way. But it's frankly
not healthy for me to be consistently going back to those pages
and updating them. So I don't and ask for your
understanding. I do realize that at the time of the pages'
creation, I may have written something along the lines of "Let me
know if you have additional resources to include" but:
1. That was directed to members of the site.
2. I meant resources specific to suicide prevention and
healing from loss related to suicide.
3. I didn't realize at the time that going back to those
pages years later would be upsetting. Thus, I've tried to
remove all such language but may have missed some. I'm sorry
if any remaining requests for resources cause confusion.
Finally, if you happened upon this page because of a genuine
interest in Mr. Rocket and would like to add some thoughts of your
own, in that case I would be happy to find a spot for them.
Thank you,
Jenni
